WestCare Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution Sex Offender Treatment Program Therapeutic Community Program
The primary goal of the Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) located at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) in Torrington, WY is to reduce the rate of recidivism among residents. In addition the SOTP promotes pro-social behavior that will enable the residents to exhibit satisfactory conduct with the facility leading to a successful integration back into the community. The program is designed to assist in the management and provide treatment to offenders with sexual behavior problems. The 64 bed in-prison residential Therapeutic Community is a behavioral modification program with a focus on addressing criminal thinking errors and developing pro-social behaviors. Therapeutic Community program provides gender-specific behavioral modification recovery services. The WMCI SOTP Unit includes full psychosexual assessments, disclosure and maintenance polygraphs and specific sex offender based groups and assignments. Offenders will progress through pre-treatment, primary treatment and maintenance care based on individual progress, sentence structure and community re-entry plans. This behavior modification program focuses on identifying and addressing criminal thinking errors and developing pro-social behaviors relying on the use of primary group and individual counseling, psychoeducational classes, specialty groups and community meetings.
