WestCare Supports Data Privacy Week: Data Privacy Week is an annual expanded effort from Data Privacy Day -- taking place from January 21 - 27, 2024. The goal of Data Privacy Week is to spread awareness about online privacy among individuals and organizations. The goal is twofold: to help citizens understand that they have the power to manage their data and to help organizations understand why it is important that they respect their users' data. WestCare continues to show its commitment to Data Privacy Week by registering as a Champion. As a Champion, WestCare recognizes and supports the principle that all organizations share the responsibility of being conscientious stewards of personal information.

WestCare: October 1, 2022 — WestCare today announced that it has signed on as Champion for Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2022. Founded in 2004, Cybersecurity Awareness Month, held each October, is the world’s foremost initiative aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness and best practices. The Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champions Program is a collaborative effort among businesses, government agencies, colleges and universities, associations, nonprofit organizations, and individuals committed to the Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme of ‘It’s easy to stay safe online.’

The South Florida Center for Women & Children at The Village South: As a pillar of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties for almost 50 years, The Village South currently operates over thirty programs providing prevention, intervention, and therapeutic services in residential facilities, outpatient facilities, and in-home services. The new South Florida for Women and Children will repurpose a previous state hospital into a modern 83,000 square foot regional treatment campus that will provide a comprehensive continuum of care for substance use disorder.



Tennessee: Our team was proud to attend and present at the 2021 Tennessee/National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children Conference in Nashville. Jennifer, our Director of Training & Technology, presented on the need for Mental Health First Aid Training for all, as well as the importance of self-care and understanding that language matters. Renee, Regional Administrator, co-presented with Brian from Camp Mariposa, regarding the research-proven benefits of providing services to children whose lives have been touched by substance abuse. Florida – Gulf Coast: Meet Shantia from our WEMERGE Women’s Residential Program. At 52, Shantia says that when she came to WestCare, she was homeless, broken and on drugs. She had been out on the streets for a long time, but the moment Shantia came to WestCare, things changed. Deep in her soul, she felt that she wanted something more from life. Through residential treatment, Shantia worked hard and reached the employment phase of the program. Shantia is now proudly a cashier at Tropical Smoothie Café where she wakes up ready to put smiles on people’s faces.



Arizona: Getting a haircut and a manicure can be transformative. WestCare Arizona created a partnership with Bentley Place Hair Design and now hosts an annual Day of beauty. Women from our residential treatment program, domestic violence shelter, and recovery residence had a moment to be pampered and feel beautiful as they work towards the next chapters of their lives. Thank you to owner Lora and her team for recognizing these moments!



Kentucky: Thanks to a collaboration between Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and State Senator Phillip Wheeler, our WestCare Perry Cline Emergency Shelter was able to start a diaper pantry for families and children who have been victims of or are at risk of domestic violence. At the shelter, we are now able to provide diapers, baby wipes, formula, clothing, and other items needed for child-rearing. Read more.



Florida – The Village South: Our Healthy Start program adapted through the COVID-19 pandemic through telehealth. Telehealth has allowed us to care for pregnant/postpartum women and infants, while also expanding psychosocial counseling services. The success of this new service model has doubled our program’s enrollment to meet with more mothers each day. Learn more.
