PIKEVILLE Ky. - The pilot drug rehabilitation project funded through a grant has begun to provide services to inmates at the Pike County Jail. The program went online near the end of April and is providing immediate drug treatment rehabilitation to inmates with drug addictions to speed the recovery process.
The Pike County Jail was one of eight facilities in Kentucky, and the only one in Eastern Kentucky, to receive grant funding for a Community Corrections Recovery Pilot Program. The $60,000 grant established a drug rehabilitation program to provide substance abuse treatment for inmates.
"We are pleased with the progress already being shown by the rehabilitation treatment program right here in the County Jail. The services they receive here will give organizations such as WestCare the power to bring them to their facilities already in the recovery process, which means the people who are really trying to get their lives on track can do so quicker," said Pike County Jailer Rodney Scott.
The goal of the Pike County pilot project is to reduce the delay in delivering services to those on the waiting list for facilities. It will be a cooperative effect to move inmates at the Pike County Jail into treatment programs in a more effective manner - by getting them started on their road-to-recovery quicker.
