CLINICAL
VISION:
We
at WestCare render high-quality, cost-effective health and
human
services. We are a multi-cultural team of experienced, credentialed
and
dedicated professionals. We insist on an atmosphere of mutual
respect that
acknowledges the uniqueness and value of both clients and
staff. We believe
in the efficacy of collaborative efforts, with each person
bringing his or
her own expertise and viewpoints to the solution of problems.
Our core
professional capabilities include excellence, resilience,
flexibility, and
persistence in the face of obstacles. We recognize the common
human
connection among our coworkers and the people we serve.
We understand that the populations
we serve have formidable needs. Our
current system of care provides substance abuse and mental
health treatment,
services to runaway and other youth, domestic violence prevention,
family
reunification, vocation training and services to elder men
and women. Many
have mental health and/or substance abuse disorders. Many
are involved with
the criminal justice system. Many are homeless. Many have
chronic illness
such as hepatitis, tuberculosis, HIV and AIDS. Many are
youths who need
assistance. Most are individuals who are underserved. In
the process of
meeting the needs of individuals, we also serve the larger
community, as we
help to reduce recidivism and help individuals change the
substance use
behaviors and associated criminal thinking.
Our clients are often challenged by
multi-generational poverty, a lack of
education, little or no employment experience, and, in many
cases, a long
history of criminal behavior. We accept the challenge to
be creative in
delivering appropriate services and resourceful in developing
successful,
innovative programming that fosters change.
We feel an obligation to consistently
model the highest standards of
personal and professional integrity, adhering rigorously
to the ethical
standards of the treatment community. We believe in developing
strong,
mutually respectful and beneficial relationships with each
other and with
the individuals we serve. We believe that open, accessible
communications
create the environment of trust that is vital to WestCare.
We strive at all
times to carry out WestCare's vision with integrity.
We recognize the importance of economic
security and financial stability,
for ourselves, for the organization of which we are a part,
and for the
people we serve. Therefore, we are committed to utilizing
our resources
efficiently, effectively, and wisely.
We value equity, impartiality, and
justice. We believe in sharing our
successes and our strengths. We believe in working together
to meet
challenges and to improve the services we provide. We believe
that ongoing
professional and personal development helps further our
goal of providing
the highest quality treatment services available, and we
therefore encourage
each other to engage in continual learning in our ongoing
efforts toward
excellence. We encourage our staff and clients to pursue
continual learning
opportunities in our ongoing efforts toward excellence.
We recognize the challenges inherent
in our activities. Nevertheless, we
expect to provide meaningful opportunities for change and
healing. Through
innovative treatment strategies, through consistent and
comprehensive
instruction, and through rigorous and compassionate intervention,
we provide
individuals with the tools they need to make necessary changes
in their
lives.
Through our efforts, we expect to
help individuals reclaim their lives, and
we expect to make our communities safer by reducing criminal
behavior. We
expect to reduce costs to taxpayers, by helping each person
we serve become
productive members of their community. Through our continuous
focus on
improvement, we expect to provide treatment services that
adopt the most
successful, most comprehensive approaches to service delivery.
